Nursing & Medical Staff
There are times when a combination of therapy and medication
is the most effective a
pproach
to emotional or mental problems.
DCMHS is staffed with 4 part-time physician consultants, 3 nurses, and
2 psychiatrists. These staff members are called upon when medication needs
become apparent. They are also available to advise non-medical staff on
issues of physical health care which can arise in the treatment of consumers.
Our physicians are also responsible for evaluating hospitalized DCMHS patients
on a daily basis, assisting hospital nursing staff in implementing inpatient
care. Generally, DCMHS clients/consumers who are under the care of a personal
physician are encouraged to let
their
physician know of their treatment at DCMHS so that the personal physician
can provide needed medical information about the consumer's case or history.
DCMHS consumers who have been recently released from inpatient care will
be followed by one of the physicians on staff so that prescribed medications
can be continued beyond the hospital stay. Pictured here are several of
our medical staff members, Lynn Barrett, RN, Johnny Brown, LPN, and
Charles Harrison, MD.
