Jerry Young, M.S.
Jerry Young is a Greenville native who has been employed with DCMHS
since 1987, first as Center Coordinator for the Bolivar County office and
now as the Director of
Alcohol
and Drug Programming for Region V. He completed his Bachelor's degree at
Millsaps College in Jackson, MS
and his Masters degree in Community Counseling at the University
of Southern Mississippi. In addition to conducting weekly staffings
with the Alcohol & Drug Program personnel, he performs assessment interviews
and hospital consultations with consumers who present with problems of
chemical abuse and dependence. He has been instrumental is writing several
grants which now underly much of the Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation programming
throughout the Region V catchment area. He also performs pre-commitment
evaluations for the local Chancery Court, making recommendations as to
referred consumers' needs for involuntary alcohol or drug abuse treatment.
