Stabilized Services

Stabilized services include programs such as adult and children's outpatient therapy, case management, aftercare, and partial hospitalization. These services are provided in order to help the client/consumer to achieve or maintain emotional stability in a least restrictive setting. Outpatient therapy available through DCMHS is provided by experienced and qualified clinicians, ranging from Psychologists to Social Workers to Professional Counselors. Problems in living, relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety disorders and personality problems are commonly addressed through individual and group therapy. DCMHS clinicians work with all ages and utilize a variety of theoretical and therapeutic strategies to assist the consumer. When appropriate, consumers may also be referred to one of the DCMHS Psychiatrists or Medical consultants for medication evaluation and monitoring.
Case Management is a program in which consumers with serious on-going mental illness are assigned a worker who will visit them in their home on a regular basis, refer and link them to community services (e.g., education, housing, medical care, legal aide, etc.), provide monitoring and follow-up activities, and offer advocacy and transportation assistance. The guiding principle in Case Management is that the consumer will be enabled to live more successfully in the community. Case management services are offered to children and adults, including those with developmental disabilities.
When a consumer has undergone treatment at an inpatient facility, such as the Mississippi State Hospital, their stable return into the community is facilitated by our Aftercare programs. Aftercare will typically involve providing the consumer with a Case Manager, arranging for medication needs to be met reliably, and ensuring that therapeutic services are available to the consumer.
Partial Hospitalization, also known as "Clubhouse" (pictured right), is a psycho-social rehabilitation program for seriously mentally ill adults. The Clubhouse program operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm in the Greenville and Rolling Fork facilities. In Cleveland, we have 2 separate Clubhouses, one of which operates from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm and the other which operates from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm. In all of the programs, the main focus is to prepare consumers for eventual work placement in the community. While at Clubhouse, consumers/members work in various units (Kitchen, Snack Bar, Clerical, Maintenance, & Thrift Shop) in order to learn good work habits, improve interpersonal skills, and develop increased personal responsibility. Clubhouse also provides socialization opportunities through after-hour activities and functions. Members also have an opportunity to obtain their GED through the Clubhouse program. By participation in the Clubhouse program, we have found that consumers are less likely to require more intensive services such as hospitalization or commitment.
